Today, I sit and stare at the card I’m given to write about. Ten of pentacles. I asked my guide to send me something to write about and he sent me this, the one card that represents all I’ve been thinking about lately.
This card is all about family. It represents the kind of wealth that can’t be measured. There’s a legacy here, generations gathered and memories shared. You can feel the warmth in this card, the colors are all in yellow tones which represent optimism and happiness to this artist. This is the family coming together and enjoying time spent in each other’s company.
Close your eyes for a minute and think back to the last time you were with your family, multiple generations, and extended family that you don’t see all that often. Can you hear the laughter? Do you smell the grill cooking dinner? How about the hugs and kisses from Gramma or Great Aunt Susie? Can you see all the faces smiling tenderly at you, full of genuine happiness?
Family is a cornerstone for many of us. For me it represents safety and stability. Family represents unconditional love, no strings attached. I’ve done a lot of stupid things in my life but my family has never abandoned me.
I’m one of three sisters. I don’t get to see them very often because we live thousands of miles apart, but when we get together it’s like time stands still. We actually really like each other! We are all married with families of our own, but that only cements the closeness. The husbands compare notes on the craziness of the sisters, all of them believing they married the best one—and they all did! Ha!
I think my most favorite part of our gatherings is the memory sharing. The littles gather and sit at our feet while each of us share some funny thing a sister did, laughing at the silliness. My mom sits there soaking in the fact that her daughters have grown from bickering little girls into golden friendships of women. The husbands sitting back shaking their heads knowing these stories by heart, they know us well.
Each of us brings our unique perspective, our way of doing things, but as sisters we are simply splinters off of our mom. All of us are very different but we are also just like her. We are related by blood, but the bond is one of love, one we’ve chosen to build. I treasure my sisters and my mom, and I love when our families are all together. I wish we were neighbors.
This summer, for a week in the very near future, we will gather under one roof. (Its a very big house!) We will have seven days together, sharing meals, drinking wine by the fire pit, watching the littles make charcoaled marshmallows. There’s magick to be found, in a house by the lake; dragon flies dancing by day, and fireflies blinking in the twilight, with laughter and love surrounding us all. A perfect retreat, it will be hard to leave, as it always is, but we take with us a renewed bond and memories for the next generation to share.
Family. It is my everything.
Thank you to my guide and my tarot deck for sending me this beautiful card to reflect on. I only wish Brandon was still alive to join us physically, but I know he will be there in spirit. I had a friend who was a medium, and through her, he’s confirmed he’ll be there, and he’s excited to see everyone in one place.

Beautiful sentiments! Being a former military spouse family is not always bound by blood. I'm not really close to most of my family but my friends (Framily)I have made through the 22 years of moving from place to place are every bit as precious. There is nothing like our bonds ♥️
